Day 6 Wilmington NC to Charleston SC

This has been a very busy day for this Pub Crawler. It started with a cloudy day and rain in the forecast. Hooding up in case of the rain... but wait, the rain won't happen until afternoon, so hooding down... but wait, it is easier to install the hooding in a controlled environment like a parking lot, than along side the road in the rain. So, hooding attached, but folded so it can be erected in moments while on the road.

We took to the road about 8:45 for the three and a half hour jaunt to Charleston. Along the way we made a Starbucks stop, not having had any really coffee for several days. We found out that Sue Dummermuth, Karen Thompson's navigator was a "Starbucks Virgin" as Char Hahn described it. She had NEVER been in a Starbucks store. And, truth be told she said she didn't really like the coffee.

Our packet of cars gathered quickly after check-in at the hotel in Charleston and drove into town. We found a really neat little restaurant for a quick lunch, booked and took a narrated tour of the city, with historic architecture, quite a bit of maritime and civil war history highlighting the experience. Interesting city is Charleston.

Then off to the Marketplace to see the wares of local craftsmen and women only to find it was closing time for them. So, up to the rooftop of the Pavilion hotel for a great view and adult beverages.

Myron Koenig enjoyed the view from the rooftop.

We needed to take a bus back to the Visitors Center parking facility. While waiting for the bus a local Morgan enthusiast, John Bigler was walking by, noticed our shirts and hats with Morgan regalia and inquired if we were on the Pub Crawl. He lives in Charleston and knows many of the crawl participants, but we being from Ohio weren't among them. We explained where he might find the others and off he went. Small world strikes again.

Dinner at the Marina, then back to tuck in for the night. A day that didn't stop from beginning to end. And it never rained. But it might tonight.
